The Womensphere GLOBAL CODEFEST is a global virtual event and celebration to inspire and empower the next generation of women to code solutions to humanity's greatest challenges and to help achieve the Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
We invite the participation of all women currently enrolled in universities, colleges, community colleges, and technical/vocational schools around the world, across all majors, fields, and disciplines, to participate in this global innovation event.

This is a global program of the Womensphere Innovation Leadership Lab (WILL) which pioneers, incubates, and scales STEAM*-powered and innovative approaches of empowering women and girls to create the future, and the Womensphere Incubator Network (WIN), a global initiative of the Womensphere Foundation to accelerate gender parity and inspire, train, and empower 1 million women and girls by 2020 (STEAM* = science, technology, engineering, arts & design, mathematics).
Schedule & Timeline:
April 13 – June 28, 2019: Phase 1 Online education campaign on the SDGs and STEAM skills. Please follow the Facebook page for updates: Womensphere Global Codefest
June 29 – August 29: Phase 2 Online education campaign on the SDGs and STEAM skills, including by Womensphere GEMs (Global Expert Mentors); Challenges will be announced on August 30.
August 30 - September 23: Beginning & end of creation & production period for art, code/apps, video for University Participants (submission deadline: September 23, 2019); continuation of online education campaign on the SDGs and STEAM skills.
August 30 - October 3: Beginning & end of creation & production period for art, code/ apps, video for Secondary School Participants (submission deadline: September 29, 2019); continuation of online education campaign on the SDGs and STEAM.
October - November: Evaluation & Adjudication period.
December 2019: Top 50-100 teams & participants will be announced.
November 2019 – February 2020: Media will be created to showcase entries and participating women & girls.
March 2020: Womensphere Global STEAMfest Award Ceremonies at a parallel event during the 64th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York.
